K2 AF Gain Pot

John Ferguson-2
The AF Gain pot on my K2 is getting loose.  I suspect it will last another year or two, but since i use it daily, I thought it would be good to replace it with a better part.  Everything else on it has held up well and exhibits not wear, other than the usual scuffing. i did have to replace the headset jack a couple of years ago but decided for that, that dedicating a headset to the k2 was easier than replacing the jacks.

So the question is, has anyone identified a more durable replacement?

It's been a great radio.  I like the looks of the new KX3, but there's something very sticky about a radio you've built yourself.

John,

If I recall, your K2 is an earlier one.  The currently supplied AF Gain
controls from Elecraft have a metal sleeve around the shaft and are much
more durable than the first ones.
I do not know of a more durable replacement other than those currently
stocked by Elecraft.

If your K2 is below SN 3000, I suggest adding the Alternate AF Gain
Wiring Mod to your K2 at the same time you replace the AF Gain control.
