[K2] Curiosity about the kat module options

IZ2NYY
Hy to all, the curiosity is about the two kat (kat2 and kat100). I would like to know if it's possible to firstly install the kat2 inside the K2 and use it as a qrp with battery when i want and then link the external kat100 for using the k2 as a base station with kpa100 option. in poor words the two atu units can cohabit in use with the same k2 and if so, the kat2 is automatically bypassed when the k2 is connected to the external kat100??

Tnx

  Pippo,

The KPA100 cannot cohabit the same enclosure as the KAT2 - they fit into
the same space.

To do that, you would order the KAT100-2 and an EC2 enclosure.  Mount
the KPA100 and KAT100 together in the external enclosure. The KAT100-2
has connectors to plug the KPA100 cables (except for the speaker).   You
will need the KIO2 option (or a suitable substitute) in the base K2.
You need a short coax with PL-259 connectors to jumper between the
KPA100 ANT jack and the KAT100 ANT IN, plus a coax with BNC connectors
between the KAT2 ANT1 jack and the AUX RF jack on the KAT100.  The cable
to connect between the KIO2 and the KAT100 is exactly the same as the
cable shown in the KAT100 manual.

When the K2 senses either the KPA100 or the KAT100 present, the KAT2 is
forced to ANT1 and the L/C section is bypassed.

Hy Don, tnx as usual for your support. My idea was exactly to leave the K2 box with his KAT2 and battery ready for portable operations and keep an external box with KPA100 and KAT 100, now i'm sure to can do this; the system will recognize the KAT100 and bypass the onboard atu when external box is connected.

Have a good day
