Hi Kevin,
I use the "cheapie" portable player type earphones. These insert in your ear with a cross band over the top of your head (bud types are similiar, but find they pull out too easily). These phones are generally 16Ohms and only require about 50mW to drive them. I definitely suggest you look for low drive power, as it will give you more control with the volume pot. They generally run $9.95. The only thing I don't like about them is the short cords, usually only a meter long. Why not regular headphones? I find for digging weak signals out in a contest or on the low bands (on CW) these do the best job of the half dozen or so types I've tried. Now, does anyone know of any wireless headphones of the same style that are available on the market? ;o) Happy holidays! 73, Julius n2wn _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Interesting subject as the old Radio Shack Communications headphones I've
been using for a good many years gave out last night, now I'm in the market for new headphones too. Jerry,
I was at our local Big Lots and while looking around I noted they had a new series of headphones on display....unable to pass up a perceived bargain, I bought two pairs..one for my QRP station and one for my main station....they are simply amazing. They are COBY CV-320 Digital Stereo Headphones with dual volume controls.......and oh yes, they cost $5.99 each. 72 Tony, W4FOA PS: Usual disclaimers apply ----- Original Message ----- From: "nr5a" <[hidden email]> To: "Elecraft Discussion List" <[hidden email]> Sent: Wednesday, December 21, 2005 2:53 PM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K2 Headphone Recommendations > Interesting subject as the old Radio Shack Communications headphones I've > been using for a good many years gave out last night, now I'm in the > market for new headphones too.
