K2 I/O issue

Don Clark-2
Gary,

I've tried to get a bit of help from the reflector, but no one seems to have much to say.  I have K2 1683, you may remember that I upgraded it last summer with the KPA100, the 60 meter mod and the DSP, all of which work fine.

I am now trying to run my K2 from my computer and ultimately run it remotely.

I have built the cables and have double and triple checked them.   I am trying to test the interface via Hyperlink and my computer is running XP.  I have also tried to connect to the K2 with my Ham radio delux program.

There isn't enough detail in the circuit details section to help me troubleshoot my RS232 connection.

I have followed the directions regarding my COM port setup, 4800, 8 bit, no parity, 2 stop bits.  I use COM2 for the K2.

Here's what I have so far.

1) When I am connected to the K2 from my computer, I can send SW01; and the K2 changes band on command.

2) When I try the TEST from the K2 (Port On - press Display) no data is returned to the computer.  The same is true when I try and run Ham Radio Delux.  It says that no frequency is read and therefore never connects to the K2.

3) I can do most all SET commands that I have tried with the exception of the frequency related commands like FA or FB.  Using the DS command, no matter which parameter I use, I can only raise the frequency 10hz at a time and then only down.

4) No GET commands seem to work.

How does the RS232 operate and where is it getting its information and what should all those voltages be?  Does it make sense that I can send signals to the K2, but not receive them?
