Jurgen,
I am tempted to say that if you cannot discern a peak, just set the slug
between 1 and 1 1/2 turns down from the top of the can and be done with it.
If you are using Spectrogram, use a filter of 400 to 700 Hz in width and
with the 7 MHz birdie being received (pre-amp on please), first set L34 for
the greatest amplitude, then search around that setting (no more than a half
turn away) for a point where the noise floor drops a bit while the main
signal stays at its maximum. When you get to that point, stop and call it
done. If you cannot find the proper point, go back to my statement in
paragraph 1. The peak is VERY broad.
