The directions on 11 detail installation of the XVTR BNC connectors on
the original top cover or phono jacks on the heat sink. There is no guidance offered as to which would be preferred. It is mentioned that with the KPA 100 installed, I won't have XVTR holes in the top cover. They also mentioned that the phono jacks in the heat sink are a relatively new addition to the heatsink. >From this I gather that the phono jacks on the heatsink are the preferred method if I were to install the KPA 100. Would the phono jacks (BTW, why the change from BNC to phono jacks?) always be the 'better' installation method? _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Matt,
There is not enough physical space for BNC connectors on the rear of the heatsink panel, so good quality RCA jacks are provided. Even the RCA jacks are a tight fit, so if you are drilling an older heatsink, measure three times and drill once, the hole positions are critical. Yes, with the QRP top cover removed, and the KPA100 installed, the BNC connector holes are not present. You could install both the BNC jacks and the RCA jacks if you preferred it that way - BNC connectors are also provided with the K60XV. So for a direct answer -- there is no 'best' way, make your choices based on your individual needs. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > The directions on 11 detail installation of the XVTR BNC connectors on > the original top cover or phono jacks on the heat sink. > > There is no guidance offered as to which would be preferred. If you remote the KPA-100 in to an EC2, then you could use the BNC's
in the top cover. Thanks once again, Don, for your help.
I've got a XV50 transverter that I will assemble this weekend. I'm inclined to go with the BNC jacks on the top cover, but I'll wait to see what the XV50 expects and go from there.
