K2: K60XV confession of a grumpy old man

Jim Rogers, W4ATK
Under my breath I have been critical of ones seeking assistance when
it seemed they just had not read the manual. Today I upgraded my
recently acquired K2 (s/n 4004) to the very latest firmware in all the
various modules and installed the one missing module, the K60XV.

Well everything went well until I switched to 60M. The display came up
with a 14.08894. I hunted and examined and scoped and finally sent an
e-mail off to Gary Surrency. Gary in his usual very understanding and
benevolent way suggested I enter a 60M frequency via the keypad. That
fixed it.

The confession., The very next line under the line in the manual
sending me off trouble shooting was the one I should have read. "Due
to recent firmware changes, the frequency of this band may initially
be set to something other than the 5Mz range. Use direct frequency
entry......" Mea Culpa

I am sure I will be much more understanding in the future....

Re: K2: K60XV confession of a grumpy old man

Guy, K2AV
What's really the killer in this self-hate generating kind of activity, is
when I READ the sentence in question, and for some reason its true meaning
just drains off my teflon insulated brain.  I am so sure that I already know
what the sentence means that my brain will not process it.  Only brick walls
and bridge abutments seem to be able to break those kinds of mis-cognition,
e.g. I figure it out AFTER I burn it up.  Really tough on hard-to-get tubes
like 3CX400's.

Can get you a membership card...   Club chairman buys 'em by the rail car
load.

73, Guy.
