K2 / KAT100 40 meter oscillation problems

John Grimm

I recently added a KAT100 to my K2-100 and I'm having problems tuning at high-power only on 40 meters.  Symptoms are exactly as described under previous posts on the 40M oscillation issue.  My KPA-100 is Appendix G Rev-C prior to the KPA100 upgrade.  I have read some previous posts on this subject that simply moving RFC10 may cure the problem, but I'm not clear in which direction to try moving the component?  Or should I simply purchase the KPA100 Upgrade kit and make those changes?  Thank you for any feedback.  John / K0YQ

Re: K2 / KAT100 40 meter oscillation problems

John,

Why not fix it correctly and install the entire KAT100UPKT - the T/R
switch was reworked entirely specifically to address that issue.
If you do not have the shield upgrade - with the reduced width notch
above the SO-239 and the solder lugs directly connecting the SO-239 to
the shield, add the shield upgrade as well.
