I finished and installed the DSP option in my K2 (#6963) and it's working
pretty well. I am trying to do a rough comparison to my Timewave 599zx. If anything, the default denoiser setting might be too strong. Brian,
The KDSP2 de-noiser has a wide adjustment range, see the KDSP2 manual and try the settings - pick the one most effective for you. I know comparisons with other DSP units such as the Timewave 599xx are interesting, but the more relevant question is what KDSP2 settings are suitable for you and your particular noise source - I encourage you to try all of them prior to making a decision. 73, Don W3FPR On 12/5/2010 9:02 PM, Brian Denley wrote: > I finished and installed the DSP option in my K2 (#6963) and it's working > pretty well. Brian...
A tidbit that I came across a while back is to set both denoiser parameters to 00. Then adjust each one a unit or two forward and back. The effects of the two parameters and their interaction becomes clearer. This might help you follow Don's advice. I've played with the settings on my DSP unit in K2 #5957 with varying effects. I've found it really helpful on cw and, for me, sort of useless on ssb. YMMV. Good luck. ...robert On 12/6/2010 02:16, Don Wilhelm wrote: > Brian, > > The KDSP2 de-noiser has a wide adjustment range, see the KDSP2 manual > and try the settings - pick the one most effective for you. > > I know comparisons with other DSP units such as the Timewave 599xx are > interesting, but the more relevant question is what KDSP2 settings are > suitable for you and your particular noise source - I encourage you to > try all of them prior to making a decision. > > 73, > Don W3FPR > > On 12/5/2010 9:02 PM, Brian Denley wrote: >> I finished and installed the DSP option in my K2 (#6963) and it's working >> pretty well.
