K2 KDSP2 - C1 value, surface mount

dave.wilburn
Went through the SSB filter adjustments yesterday and today.  Played
with the DSP settings, and got it all dialed in just so.  Put it all
back together and no audio.

Took it apart and saw C1 from the KDSP2 daughter board sticking up in
the air.  Nice, I remember the warnings about that NOW.  Sooooo.....

What are my options at this point?  C1 and its pads, and part of one
land are pulled up.  The land is still intact at this time.  I am
checking around with friends, about SMT experience.

If I know the value of C1 I could cobble something together.  I do not
know if Elecraft does repairs, or if I would just have to order a new
daughter board if the above does not work.  I recall some discussions
recently about the KDSP2 schematics.  So I am off to the archives.

Dave,

The KDSP2 schematics are in the KDSP2 instruction manual.

The schematic shows C1 on the DSPx module as a 10 uF/16v capacitor
(probably tantalum, do not reverse it!).  If the capacitor itself is not
damaged, you can likely make a repair with small gauge wire, assuming
there is enough intact solder pad attached to the board to keep the
capacitor in place.
