[K2-KPA100] Hi Refl

Dana Phillips
I have installed the 100w amp in my K2 and am in the final calibration
stage but I have encountered a problem.  When switching in the amp
stage, I get a "Hi Refl" message. This is problematic because I am
transmitting into a  50 ohm commercial dummy load, and I have tried 3
different coax jumpers with no effect.

Is there a setting for the SWR sensor that I am missing?  Is there a
component or connection that I should check?

Thanks in advance
Dana N6DW

Dana,

Initially set R26 to give you 43k ohms to ground measured at U5 pin 5
and set R27 for 43k ohms measured at U5 pin 3.
That is a good starting point for the wattmeter calibration.

Did you obtain a good balance (null) when you adjusted C1?  You can set
that at the 10 watt level from the base K2 by disconnecting the power to
the KPA100 and powering only the base K2.  You should see a null that is
down in the very low millivolt range.
The null must be the starting point.  If you do not achieve a good null,
you will have to find out what is wrong before proceeding to anything
else.  The orientation of diodes D16 and D17 are the first check, and
second is the winding of T4.  T4 must be wound and connected *exactly*
as indicated in the manual - including the direction of the winding.  If
it is wound backwards, Hi REFL will be the result.
