[K2] KXV60 Transverter In and Out connectors - BNC v. RCA

Gary Marklund
I am about to install the KXV60 in my K2 (10W) and need to make the
connector decision. My preference would be the BNC connectors, but would
like to know if there are any considerations beyond personal preference.

Thank you,
Gary

Gary,
If I recall correctly, the BNC connectors are on the top lid, the RCAs on
the lower panel. If you use the BNCs, you will have to disconnect them
(unsolder) to completely remove the top cover for service. I think that is
the only real difference.

I fitted a 4-way connector to the KXV60 to I could unplug the BNC
connectors when I removed the top cover of the K2.  I felt that BNC were
more appropriate for RF connections to the XV144, particularly as the
XV144 has BNC also.

Go for the RCAs so you can still remove the top easily. At 28MHz (practically DC - it is 10m wavelength for goodness-sake) you don't need to worry about the mismatch for this application.

That is what I did - it looks neat and stops you from confusing them with the KAT2 BNCs.

Thank you for your comments. You have convinced me to go with the RCAs.
