My K2 (S/N 7867) which I built has always had an intermittent problem with
the bottom horizontal row of LCD elements. Often they are missing until I slap the top of the radio. Then they will come back on for a while. I'd like a more permanent solution. Looking for some ideas as to where to focus my investigation. Do I have a short between the front panel and control board? A loose connection somewhere? Was thinking maybe this has been seen before and someone else's solution could help point me in the right direction. I'd like to try to fix it myself before I send it out for repair. Thanks. Mark,
I think you will find that the socket pins of Front Panel U1 are not well soldered. 73, Don W3FPR On 2/7/2021 1:18 PM, Mark Yergin wrote: > My K2 (S/N 7867) which I built has always had an intermittent problem with > the bottom horizontal row of LCD elements. Thanks Don and Joel, who both suggested bad solder joints. I touched up
all the LCD and U1 solder joints on the Front Panel and the problem was resolved!
