K2 LCD dsisplay problem?

Elecraft mailing list
Good morning, I would like some help in resolving a problem with my K2.
The rig is receiving and transmitting

with no problem, but the indicator for LSB, USB, CW etc is not working.
I am able to change mode ok but have to rely

on my ears to tell me witch mode I am on. On the display I see one
vertical bar, press mode button mode changes

and the display shows two vertical bars. Is this a display fault or
should I look somewhere else?

Thanking you in advance, and my best wishes to all on this
reflector,

             Barry Middleton G4DBS

Re: K2 LCD dsisplay problem?

Don Wilhelm
Barry,

Check the soldering for the LCD display pins.  I would also check
continuity on Front Panel U1 to the display pins.  Should you find any
that do not have continuity, do not lift the LCD to reflow the solder,
instead, carve a notch in the socket and solder it from on the socket side.
