Here's a question for someone who has determined their K2 MDS
(minimum discernable signal) with the XG1. What were your raw audio
voltage measurements, S+N and N, across the speaker?
The XG1 manual (p 5) says a K2 should produce a S+N of roughly .4 to .
8 Vrms audio. But I'm not completely sure this refers to the 1
microvolt MDS test, as my K2 falls far short of this even though it
seems to work OK.
With 1 microvolt in and everything set up as described in the XG1
manual for the test, my K2 produces about 0.125 Vrms, as measured on
my Fluke Model 8000A, and about 0.0025 Vrms with the XG1 off. This
works out to -141 dBm MDS, which is on target. However, I'd call my
audio output just adequate in some circumstances. Before I start
trouble shooting I'd like to be sure I've really got a problem.
Thanks
Dick, K0KK
