K2 - Need Some Help!

stan levandowski
Thank you to eveyone who responded so quickly.  Yes, I should have
looked at the schematic but frankly it didn't occur to me as I was
overly preoccupied trying to understand the instruction manual.

I don't want to make a big deal about this but if the instructions
simply said to use the two outer holes and leave the middle hole empty,
there would be nothing to misinterpret and it would be correct whether
the builder was looking at the bottom of the board or the top; whether
the builder was choosing to solder the top pads or the bottom.  At least
that's the way I would have written it.

Thanks again everyone!  Now I have to go desolder...

Re: K2 - Need Some Help!

Stan, glad to see you've got this nailed down now.

I suppose, in a strange way, I now feel somewhat less stupid!
I had exactly the same interpretive dilemma, made the same
incorrect soldering decision, and naturally had the same result--
a deaf K2.  I too, did not think of checking the schematic, which
would, of course, have cleared things up instantly!  And I have
a Ph.D that was supposed to teach me critical readings of texts!
At least I console myself that C6 was the one and only mistake
I made in the whole K2 construction.

[Ron (AC7AC) I second Stan's suggested rewording as it seems
some of us are just 'different'!]
