This FD, my K2 quit receiving. The RX was working good and then just faded to nothing. All bands were affected...all modes. The fade took about 30 seconds to occure.
Took the K2 home and put it on the bench (there are plenty of ops and radios at FD) and I could not get it to work. Went back to FD and spent the rest of the afternoon and now at 7 pm the radio has come back to life. Xmit seemed to work OK...but RX was affected. Also it seems the RX listens to loud CW signals but I cannot hear the weak one...right now. In the wide mode 1.50, I can hear quite well just about everything, but when I go to 700 the radio seems to get deaf. I listening to a loud signal now, but there is only one bar on the S-Meter lit. It is not dead, but it seams deaf. Any thoughts from all you gurus out there? I won't tell you what happened to my ICOM 756PROII - but I think a PLL is locking up on 7.0, 3.5, and 1.8. Above that...its good as gold. Sadly, FD has not been good to me :>( Lee - K0WA _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Lee,
I would suggest that you investigate 2 areas - first the AGC circuits and secondly see what the filter alignment looks like (if it has shifted, just determine that fact, but don't adjust it until you look for the cause - likely in the BFO area). The slow fade certainly sounds like it could be AGC related to me, but I counter that with your later statement that you can now hear with your 1.5 filter, but lose it with the 700 - that condition could be caused by a shift in the BFO frequency - and it would not be obvious on transmit. If I were you, I would look for any suspicious solder connections in those circuits - particularly the BFO varactors. Funny how problems like that show up at the most inconvenient times - sorry to hear of ordeals like that. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > This FD, my K2 quit receiving.
