K2 Rugged?

Neil Shubert
Hi All,
should I be worried about taking my K2 where I would take my 857 0r 817?

I really want to but I am more protective of it, its knobs and BNC
connectors
How do they hold up to adventuring?

Neil,

The K2 is actually quite sturdy.  The enclosure is difficult to damage
when all the screws are in place, and the electronics are certainly not
physically fragile short of something that would damage the board.

You are correct that the most vulnerable  items are the BNC connector(s)
and the knobs.  If you can protect those from impact, the K2 will
survive most any reasonable blow.

There was someone who made extended side panels for the K2 (and K3 I
believe) that extends the side panels out over the rear and face of the
K2 and provides added protection.  Those side panels along with a foam
cover cut for the front and rear would indeed provide all the protection
needed - It would not withstand being run over by a vehicle, but that is
a different matter.
