Re: K2 UNBUILT KIT STILL WANTED!!

Dan -

I presume you know that unlike the K3, there is NO waiting list for new
K2 kits direct from Elecraft?  In my experience, the prices for unbuilt
kits are usually only a few percent less than buying direct from
Elecraft.  Pretty much the only reason we ever see unbuilt kits is
because someone has health issues, and cannot complete the job, or is in
financial distress.  Fortunately, neither of these situations occur very
often.  I am not trying to discourage you from searching for a "good
deal" on an unassembled kit, but only suggesting that if time is an
issue, getting your new kit direct from the source may turn out to be
your best option.  Also, some unbuilt kits, depending on how long they
have been sitting around, may need "upgrade" parts from Elecraft anyway.

Good luck, and 73

Aside from the fact that many unused kits sell for almost the price of a  new
one, there is a  certain value in having the warranty (one year) of a  new
kit in addition to the guarantee of success that is attached to it. You are
also assured of the latest version firmware and current state of any mods that
may have been applied.

If you buy and older unassembled kit, you can be assured that you will get
all the advice and info needed to make it a success, but there is always a
chance that implementing changes and add-ins/upgrades will com at a price.   This
may be more value to you as a bargaining chip rather than to alter  your
decision making.
