Hi folks!
>From time to time there has been questions here about the K2 and psk modes.
After using the K2 in psk for some time now I thought I should post some
hints regarding these mode.
First I find the K2 more than capable of doing psk.
The RTTY Reverse setting force USB side of rtty and is preffered.
By using this mode on the K2 you leave the compression SSBCr to 1-1.
You do not need to lover SSBA setting.
Try to use psk tone higher than the half of your upper bandwidth on the ksb2
to avoid or at least attenuate the second harmonic.
Use not more than 5 watts on the K2 and 25 watts on your K2/100.
If you have to run 100 watts to nail that DX , watch carefully the heat.
What you would look like up or down on the bands is another matter so stay
at 25 watts for casual operation.
Another hint if you want to use the FINE-RIT option is to leave filter FL2
to full bandwidth.
You still have FL3 and FL4 if you need narrow filters for RTTY operation.
Let the PC key your rig. Do not use Vox. It works with vox to , but it is
better to let the software control the keying.
Use just enough audio from the PC to hit your requested power output.
That will give you a clean nice output.
And last , but not least......I found this to be very important is to adjust
the psk software to LOCK YOUR AUDIO TX FREQUENCY
and TRACK RX AUDIO FREQUENCY with the AFC option most of the PSK software
have.
So with this small hints your K2 is up in digimode in no time.
Good hunting.
