I have read through page 103 of the 'G' manual serveral times now,
things do not seem to be working out. I was hoping to setup two frequencies, either in memory or with the VFOs, and scan between them. I have setup VFOA for freqA and VFOB for freqB, and then held STORE, and then selected and held a number until SCAN is displayed. If I had two frequencies in the memory for that same band, it then scanned JUST those to frequencies. If I did not have any frequencies on that band in memory, it then 'scanned' the one frequency I put it. I then did the same thing, and held down the number key until I got AF ON, and the same thing happend. If I placed the two frequencies in spots 1 and 2, and then did this, it would scan the frequencies, hopping between them. My goal is to scan everything from freqA to freqB and back, continuously. I must be missing something obvious. -- David Wilburn [hidden email] K4DGW K2 S/N 5982 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. The book says:
"Store this setting in any memory (using the S T O R E switch), but instead of tapping the switch for the desired memory, hold the numbered switch (0 -9 ) until you see S C A N on the display." It should say: "Store this setting in any memory (using the S T O R E switch a HOLD). THEN RCL (a hold) and a number (tap to recall memory n, hold to scan from A to B of memory n). You will see S C A N on the display." It is two operations. 1. Store the limits (from vfoA to vfoB and other parameters) in a numbered memory. 2. Start a scan (done by a HOLD vs. a TAP). If you do what the book says, it will do the HOLD function of whatever number you were pressing (in my case 1 so I saw TEST and OPER). NOTE TO MANUAL MAINTAINERS: Please edit this correction. It's very rough. I'll have to give Elecraft a call next week. I worked on the phone with
NU4I, and we went step-by-step. We mirrored commands between his and mine. Mine would scan memories, but would not scan from freqA to freqB. - David Wilburn [hidden email] K4DGW K2 S/N 5982 On Sat, 2007-12-08 at 13:06 -0500, Dan Barker wrote: > The book says: > > "Store this setting in any memory (using the S T O R E switch), but > instead of tapping the switch for the desired memory, hold the > numbered switch (0 -9 ) until you see S C A N on the display." > > It should say: > > "Store this setting in any memory (using the S T O R E switch a HOLD). David,
Here is a very helpful message I received from Elecraft way way back when I was having problems with scanning on 40 meters. I don't know if it addresses your problem or not but I thought it was worth a shot ... ------------------------------------------ It sounds at least on 40 that you have the channel hopping enabled somehow (as described in your manual on page 99 second column). When your on 40, go into the menu, tap display to get in the secondary menu (you'll see SEC) and turn the VFO knob to get to RATES. Once on RATES hold down Menu as to edit the rates. Tap Display and you will see one of 3 selections: CH SC, CH SC-TN, and "nor". You want to select "nor". After this, try scanning again and see if it works normally. If it does, than your radio was set up to channel hop. If it doesn't than maybe your firmware is somehow damaged. Please let us know what you find out. We will get it running correctly, 73 Richard Richard Trebbien AD7FZ Elecraft Support [hidden email] ---------------------------------------------- Don K7FJ > I'll have to give Elecraft a call next week. AWESOME response from Elecraft. That hit the nail on the head Don. Big
thanks, and on a Saturday no less. - David Wilburn [hidden email] K4DGW K2 S/N 5982 On Sat, 2007-12-08 at 13:50 -0800, Don Ehrlich wrote: > David, > > Here is a very helpful message I received from Elecraft way way back when I > was having problems with scanning on 40 meters.
