Well, I am selling my K2 and K2 stuff, it's all on Ebay, I put the DSP,
tuner, and noise gen on Ebay last night (the sig-gen too but someone
already bought it) and the K2 will be put on tonight. The K2 is
partially built, passes all tests with flying colors and no oopsies,
the front panel came out beautiful - all switches really regular,
display itself perfect, etc.
I'm just not finding time to work on this rig, and if past experiences
are any guide, I won't find myself operating it. The one time I find
myself feeling like operating is at HRO (there's a hard core of
hanger-outers and I'm one of 'em!) or at the SLAC get-together, and
then my CW's not good enough to do either. So, I'm going to work on my
CW skills, so I can do that.
Thirdly, the K2 is a lot of rig! I've said out loud to more than one
person that based on my actual operating, all I really need is a NorCal
40a and leave it at that, that's almost too much radio for me lol. The
ephiphany came when I met the guy ("mr Kitbuilders") who does all the
SMT installations on just about all the QRP kits out there. He could
have any rig he wants, but his operating is mainly done on a Small
Wonder Labs 40-40 or some odd thing. It sounds like he has a ball too -
from the sound of it his CW skills are good.
Maybe I just like building quickie kits, the M-cubed Electronix
component tester someone on this list recommended to me is a blast, and
I use it almost daily. I'm planning to get their freq counter/power
meter kit next. The AADE LC Meter II kit is also highly recommended by
me, great great piece of equipment.
Look on Ebay tonight if you feel like bidding on my K2 and 73 de Alex
