K2: better charging technique for KBT2??

Allan Taylor
I have recently reworked my K2, installing both the very low voltage
drop diode and the KBT2 kit. Does anyone know of a better way to
charge the battery than just floating it at, say, 13.9V? I suspect
this question has come up before but wish to solicit the latest scoop.
I have a multi-step (smart) charger I use on other sealed lead-acid
batteries so suspect someone may have cooked up a scheme
for the K2 battery that accounts for the slightly higher voltage
required due to the reverse protection diode, etc.

  Allan,

Take a look at the K2 Smartcharger article on my website www.w3fpr.com.
To use a charger of that nature, you must make a direct connection to
the battery.  PUT A FUSE IN THAT CONNECTION.
I am repairing a K2 right now that did not have a fuse - the battery
apparently was shorted and melted a lot of wires inside the K2.
