K2 deaf on CW

Here is the problem:
My K2/100 performs very well on USB and LSB, but it nearly deaf on CW. I have used it mainly as a platform for transverters on 2m, 432 and 903 and was not aware of the CW issue until this January during the ARRL VHF Sweepstakes. I had many 903 contacts that were so weak that I needed CW. Even with the CW filter set to the widest bandwidth, I could barely hear and ended up finding them via SSB mode. A test on 40M showed me that I do indeed have a problem. What gives here? Output is fine in all modes SSB is fine in receive in LSB and USB. Only CW seems poor and on receive only. I have some ideas, but would like to get some input from the Elecraft group. Thanks in advance. I have some ideas, but would like to get some input from the Elecraft group. ------------------- Since all you are doing when switching between CW and SSB in receive is changing the filter bandwidth and BFO settings, I'd look at those first. It sounds like your filter center frequency is so far off that you're attenuating the signal or, if it seems to "peak" way down in the mud, you may have the BFO frequency on the wrong side of the carrier. Have you tried tuning through zero beat to see if you can hear the signal on the 'wrong' side? You apparently have a problem with the CW filter alignment. I suggest you do the filter alignment with Spectrogram. Instructions for setting the filters properly can be found on my website http://w3fpr.qrpradio.com in the K2 dial Calibration article - you can skip to SETP 3 - CAL FIL if you are only interested in the filter alignment part. There are links to further information on the Elecraft website and Tom Hammond's website.
