Greetings!
Spent the weekend on a new K2. After finishing up the front panel board, the little rubber spacers kept falling off the PC board. They stick, just not very well. After one of them fell off for the third time, I tried to pick up the backing paper off my desk with plans to deal with it later only to discover the paper square firmly glued in place. After pealing it up, it no longer has any interest in transfering the thin adhesive to the pad. Is it time for super glue? Any suggestions would be welcome. 73, N7NSD Norm _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Norm,
Glue, yes, but SuperGlue on rubber does not work very well - the superglue hardens (becomes inflexible) and the rubber must still flex, so it will come off in time. I built a K2 recently and found the pads reluctant to stick too - so maybe Elecraft needs to monitor their pad vendor's process for a bit, or it may be that the problem is now solved but a few bad ones slipped through, and a few of us "unfortunates" got kits with bad adhesive. Rubber cement is a better choice, double sided tape is another, contact cement will work great, and many of the automotive glues specifically for rubber (or vinyl) to metal will work superbly - many of these are a form of contact cement, especially if the instructions indicate that you should let the glue surfaces dry (or 'tack up') before mating the surfaces. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > Spent the weekend on a new K2. I finished a new K2 a week or two ago and I too had a problem with the little rubber spacers sticking. Can't remember it happening before.
