K2 hand key results in continuous transmition

glover3149@comcast.net
Guys,
Just doing the Part III test and alignment and found that although the keyer functions works ok, when I select the hand key option and try to key with the old J38 the transmitter goes to continuous transmit after the first tap of the key and will not stop unless I disconnect the key.  Help?

  Mike,

Does that happen with a dummy load?  If it only happens with an antenna,
you have a lot of RF in the shack that should be dealt with in your
antenna system.

Do you have a stereo plug on the end of that hand key cable?  If it is a
mono plug it could be causing that condition.  You must use a stereo
plug for the K2 even though for a hand key only the tip and sleeve would
be connected.
