I just finished the kpa100, and put it in the case with the kat100.
Works great, no issues now with the k2, the ssb option, both antenna tuners, the rs232, the kpa100 and the kat100, no missing parts, no issues, all built in the last few weeks. The only thing I was not happy about is setting the bias level on the kpa, the current just keeps going up, and somewhat quickly. Is there any better way to set the bias? Shouldn't things be more stable? Quite a slick setup though, the pa and tuner can be remote, and the K2 sits on the desk, disconnect a few cables and the qrp K2 with the built in tuner is ready to go anyplace.... The only bug me thing is the relays in the kat100 are LOUD when tuning! Only the 160 meter option and noise blanker to go. Brett,
Congratulations on your new and improved K2/100 station. Yes, the PA current goes up quickly when measuring for the bias level, and I don't know of a better way. Just repeat several times until the initial current is correct. The first reading on your DMM is probably not correct due the timing within the DMM, but the second one will be the correct current. The current will begin to climb even on the rd cycle of the DMM reading. Make the final adjustments to the bias in very small increments, going into TUNE and out again for each trial. 73, Don W3FPR Brett Gazdzinski wrote: > I just finished the kpa100, and put it in the case with the kat100. > Works great, no issues now with the k2, the ssb option, both antenna tuners, > the rs232, the kpa100 and the kat100, no missing parts, no issues, all built > in the last few weeks. > The only thing I was not happy about is setting the bias level on the kpa, > the current just keeps going up, and somewhat quickly. > Is there any better way to set the bias? > Shouldn't things be more stable? > > Quite a slick setup though, the pa and tuner can be remote, and the K2 sits > on the desk, disconnect a few cables and the qrp K2 with the built in tuner > is ready to go anyplace.... > The only bug me thing is the relays in the kat100 are LOUD when tuning! > > Only the 160 meter option and noise blanker to go. > > Brett > N2DTS > > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
