Hi,
I'm in the process of designing an interface for my K2 that would bring functions, currently enabled or changed by tapping keys or holding keys, to independent controls. I am also going to bring some functions, that are enabled by navigating through the menu system, to single button/switch functions. I am doing all of this to bring a big radio feel to my small and capable K2. I would like to find out which functions you would like to see implemented with a single control. As an example, instead of tapping the mode button to select USB, LSB, or CW, I will just turn the rotary switch to the desired mode. Thanks for your input. Mike,
Unless you are dead set on doing that in a hardware interface, try Ham Radio Deluxe or the N4PY software - what you want to achieve is already programmed into them (or can be customized for that function). If you wish to create a hardware interface, I might suggest that the easiest path is to have the new hardware buttons buttons interface with a microprocessor that in turn sends the appropriate commands ot the K2 through the KIO2. To do a direct hardware implementation without the processor, one would have to provide a lot of connections and signals to the K2 microprocessor, and that would take more circuits that it is worth in my opinion. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > I'm in the process of designing an interface for my K2 that would > bring functions, currently enabled or changed by tapping keys or > holding keys, to independent controls. Hello Mike
Interesting idea for your big panel controls. My suggestions are separate selection and indicators for FIL1 through FIL4 and AF1 through AF4, R2 ON/OFF with indicator, a RIT control with zero center detent, TEST/CW/USB/LSB on separate buttons, ANT1/ANT2 a separate button from the TUNE function, SPLIT with an ON/OFF indicator. Some of these, where there are only two states, such as R2 ON/OFF or ANT1/ANT2, could be a single button with two indicators side by side. I hope you get lots of ideas from the group. Good luck. 73, Bob N6WG The Little Station with Attitude -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]]On Behalf Of [hidden email] Sent: Monday, October 10, 2005 11:32 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] K2 opinions sought Hi, I'm in the process of designing an interface for my K2 that would bring functions, currently enabled or changed by tapping keys or holding keys, to independent controls.
