I would say : signal tracing, as explained in the owner manual. The K2 ist the perfect rig to do this kind of job : its design and construction are simple and access to the components is easy. Have a look to the "dirty signal tracing" on the elecraft site.

Frank,

Start out with the basics, but there are a few things we must know about
your K2 to help you.  For starters ---

Do you have the K160RX option installed?  (look to see how many BNC
jacks are on the lower rear panel - if there are 2, the K160RX is
installed).  If installed, the receive antenna settings are remembered
for each band, so go to each band, enter the menu and see if RANT is set
ON - if so, set it to OFF.  That should allow receive through the ANT
BNC jack instead of the Receive ANT jack.

If this is a basic 10 watt K2, is the KAT2 installed?  If so, there are
ANT1 and ANT2 BNC jacks on the upper rear panel.  The ANT1/2 settings
are remembered per band.  Switch to each band and set the ANT1/2 setting
to correspond to the jack you have tha antenna connected to (there is an
annunciator on the LCD display for ANT2 selected).  Also, for the
initial check, set the menu ATU parameter to CALP to bypass the tuner.

If that does not help, tell us about the options installed in this K2
and perhaps we can be of more assistance.

Don W3FPR
