Hi to Ron VE8RT and the group.
I have used a MFJ-927 remote tuner for the last three years with my
HY-Tower vertical about 20 feet from my house. The power for the tuner
is added to the transmit coax here in the shack and the tuner is at the
base of my antenna. We have long cold winters here and the tuner has
worked many times at 20 degrees below zero and more. It has been trouble
free except shortly after I bought it they replaced it under warranty. I
have no idea why it quit but as I say that was several years ago. This
tuner is only rated at 200 watts and of course that is no problem for my
K3, K2 or IC-746 PRO but I am still waiting to see how the new tuner
from Elecraft works out as it would be nice to add a KPA500 to my station.
I hope this report from Fargo ND helps you.
