K2 serial interface debug

TI2/NA7U
I have two K2s (one for casual, one for dress . Both have the serial I/O unit. One works fine the other not so much. The one with the problem is not working with Fldigi (using any of the CAT interfaces). No commands appear to be flowing in either direction. I actually don't know if the serial I/O ever worked on that K2 as this is the first time I've tried it.

Can someone just give me a debug strategy and some tips to help diagnose it? TIA

Casey, TI2/NA7U

  Casey,

The first thing to do is swap the cables - you may have a wiring problem
with the K2 serial cable.

If the cable is not the problem, tell me if you are dealing with a KIO2
option in a 10 watt K2 or the equivalent in a KPA100 and I can give you
some DC tests to perform.
