I'm thinking about taking my K2/10 out for POTA/SOTA ops which involve some hiking.Mine has the extra heavy duty extended side panels. I'll be taking a fiberglass pole, microphone, paddle, headphones and battery in addition to other basic day hike stuff.
I'm wondering how other people have transported their K2 to the field?Just throw it in the pack? Dry bag? Padded bag or case? Use something commercial off the shelf or fabricate a carrier? 72 de Bryan, k0emt ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I used a large sandwich box which held it very well indeed. Then it can be popped into your ruck sack without further ado.

A plastic container with clip on lid and some lightweight foam plastic sheeting with cutouts for knobs and connectors to act as packing. The rest of the kit just goes in the backpack with the plastic container for SOTA activations. The plastic container was a cheap lightweight KMart (equivalent to Walmart?) container.
