I’m in the E850138 upgrade kit right now, and the included inductor L31 seems to be a bit off.
The value listed in the instructions is 12 uH, but the actual part is a blue ceramic inductor with stripes Brown-Brown-Black, which I read as 11 uH. Does this seem like a packing mistake, and I should hold out for a 12 uH part? Or does it fall into the “close enough” category? Thanks. Doug, W0UHU. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |
Doug,
Try better lighting - I think you will find the center stripe is actually red. Alternately, ask a woman to read the colors - their color perception is usually much better than men's. 73, Don W3FPR On 11/22/2020 4:03 PM, Douglas Hagerman via Elecraft wrote: > I’m in the E850138 upgrade kit right now, and the included inductor L31 seems to be a bit off. > > The value listed in the instructions is 12 uH, but the actual part is a blue ceramic inductor with stripes Brown-Brown-Black, which I read as 11 uH. > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |
I can confirm that Don's suggestion not only works, but is a great
ice-breaker at parties and bars :-) 73 Eric WD6DBM On Sun, Nov 22, 2020, 1:45 PM Don Wilhelm <[hidden email]> wrote: > Doug, > > Try better lighting - I think you will find the center stripe is > actually red. Orly? Next time I go to a party or bar I will try it! That will be in about 2099 at the current rate, though.
In the meantime, what do I do? And men are much more likely to have red-green colorblindness.
We only discovered that my father-in-law was colorblind when my son was tested as being colorblind. My mother-in-law said, "So that's why he always picked really badly matched ties." 73 Bill AE6JV On 11/22/20 at 4:45 PM, [hidden email] (Don Wilhelm) wrote: >Try better lighting - I think you will find the center stripe >is actually red. That usually leads to, "Sort of a light salmon, a little pinker,
bluish-green, and mauve" when I ask, Don. Males have no idea what mauve is. 73, Fred ["Skip"] K6DGW Sparks NV DM09dn Washoe County On 11/22/2020 1:45 PM, Don Wilhelm wrote: > Doug, > > Try better lighting - I think you will find the center stripe is > actually red. I do not know what mauve is either.
My wife says I had only 8 crayons in my box while she had 64! I am amazed at her color perception and memory. She can look at a color and go to the store and have them duplicate it exactly - even without a sample for matching. Having done professional woodworking for 10 years, I can do good at wood stains and shades, so she leaves me to do that - I do not tinker with her color perception. If it is shades of brown, I can handle it, but I leave the rest to her. 73, Don W3FPR On 11/22/2020 6:23 PM, Fred Jensen wrote: > That usually leads to, "Sort of a light salmon, a little pinker, > bluish-green, and mauve" when I ask, Don. Ha ha, brings back memories of building my K2 with my then-small
daughter sitting with me reading off resistor colors and feeling /very/ important! Today she has 4 little ones of her own. 73, Victor, 4X6GP Rehovot, Israel Formerly K2VCO CWops no. 5 http://www.qsl.net/k2vco/ .
