Problem was: SSB transmit offset by 540Hz.
In reply to Steve's question: No, I did not have the RIT or XIT
engaged. Easy enough mistake to make despite the flashing indicator. :(
Just to dot the i's and cross the t's, I recalled that I had not set
not set BF2-4 in CAL-FIL for SSB when I installed the unit. I re-did
the CAL FIL calibration yesterday after diagnosing the problem. I
transmitted into a dummy load and listened on a nearby receiver and
found that now I seem to be on frequency, at least on the HF bands.
I dunno if this makes any sense. Perhaps I was on Fil2 with the
factory BFO setting for the filter. In any case, listening on HF I
now seem to be spot on.
I noticed the problem yesterday while having a 2m qso using the
XV144. I will try some on the air tests with the XV144 tonight.
Hope to get it all squared away before the CQWW VHF this weekend.
Thanks for your note,
Raj, N2RD
