Has anyone hooked their K2 to an Icom 2KL? In particular how did you handle the ALC requirement for the Icom? Thanks,

Dear Jack,
I´ve been using my K2 and K3 with the IC2KL for several years and I haven´t used ALC, although this is not recommended by the members of the Yahoo IC2KL group.They say using ALC with this amplifier is a must. The internal protection of my 2KL works very well here. 73,Chris-OE5CSP |

/*I have two solid state amps I drive using a K3 a KPA500 and a 15 year
old VL-1000 Quadra I do not use the ALC connection to the Quadra it will walk back the out put until there is hardly any amplification. It works just fine with only the PTT connection, ACC to band data on the VL-1000 for band changing and a ground strap. Have you configured the K3 for negative going ALC and adjusted the Quadra's ALC output as described on pages 12 and 13 of the Quadra manual? 73, ... Thanks for the replies. I have it working without the ALC. I am a little surprised at the drive level for CW -- around 20 watts will produce 500; the manual suggests more. I did a trapezoid test with the scope and the amp looks very linear. Also no observable crossover distortion on my 150 mHz scope. 73, Jack (W0FNQ)
