I purchased a K3/10 last year at Dayton, I FINALLY got it together. I tried to fire it up after doing what they tell me to do in the manual. So far I've only heard a weak signal on 20 mtr. Appears to be no transmit signal.
Gary from Elecraft has been trying to help me, maybe I'm beyond help or so it seems. I don't know if I'm looking for tech help exactly. I do want to use it as a transceiver as well as using the receiver for sw and bcb dxing. I did get the general coverage module and found out I should have also purchased the kxv3 module for the second ant. connector etc. I'm thinking about bringing it to Dayton to get it fixed there, prob not. I prob should send it now while they aren't so busy as I'd like it for field day ?! What are your thoughts ? I have never heard of them fixing anything at Dayton, but I am sure they can fix you up at Aptos. I had a similar experience, much to my embarrasment because I like to think I can fix things. I sent my K3 to Aptos and Rene had it fixed in short order. Gary will tell you when it is time to give up, so you can keep trying until he lets you know it is time to send it back.

Well said, Cookie. I like to remind myself occasionally about the engineers version of the first part of the Serenity Prayer. Which goes.
"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot fix; courage to fix the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference." This is, of course taken out of context, but still a very valuable lesson for engineers and hams alike.
