Gary,
Thanks for the response. Although setting CMP to 20 and FL.H gets the correct number of bars for CMP and ALC on the display I still have no RF output on 40 (7.200) LSB. When I press the PTT button on the mic the red led for TX comes on and one bar on the RF display shows but when I speak or tap the mic there is no change in the RF display. On 20 USB, the RF display shows full output! BTW, I entered the SKCC WES the day I finished the build and cw worked flawlessly on 40 with the same ant in both bypass and atu mode. The ant is cut for perfect swr on the cw end and show 3 bars in bypass mode and 2 bars in ATU mode. Well under 2.0 swr. The Filter Utility show the 2.8 set for LSB TX. When I go to CONFIG:FLTx FL3 is see cw in cw mode and LSB if I hit MODE. Any more suggestions? Try advancing the MIC and CMP levels, and set MIC SEL to FPH for a little more sensitivity (press #1). Be sure the rig works OK in TUNE and CW before troubleshooting problems in SSB. 73, Gary AB7MY ========= [hidden email] Elecraft Technical Support -------- Original Message -------- Subject: RE: [Elecraft] K3-100 #1433 Will not transmit on 40 meters LSB. I saw the word DYNAMIC on the mic (a Kenwood MC-43S) and a pin out that showed 8V and jumped to the conclusion that bias was needed. That was seemingly confirmed when I was able to get the mic to work only when I had BIAS on. There could be some confusion because I was dealing with filter tx settings at the same time. I now have FP.L and no bias. 20 meters USB works. I get RF out on the display. On 40 meters LSB I can still hear the mic on the radio but still get no rf out. The K3 Utility under Configuration shows a 2.8 filter TX SSB When I go into CONFIG: FLTX SB FL3 LSB shows. What else could be going on! -----Original Message----- From: Bill NY9H [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Tuesday, August 12, 2008 8:59 AM To: Jack Regan Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3-100 #1433 Will not transmit on 40 meters LSB. the bias should be off for a dynamic element..... could be the bias being on is messing up stuff..... I have a new clue. I turned the power down to low power levels. The RF meter switches to ..5...10 mode. I now get RF bars when speaking or tapping the mic. If I turn up the power while speaking the RF meter switches to ...50...100 and I drop back to one bar. -----Original Message----- Gary, Thanks for the response.
