Actually, they are called Druz fasteners, and allow for a quick disconnect
with a 1/4 turn rotation. My company uses them to secure the side and back
panels onto the diagnostic medical equipment that I service. We've used them
for over 20 years now. Nice for larger panels, but -not- appropriate for
something like the K3. The ones I use  are fairly lagre, and require a
rectangular cutout in the instrument frame to accept the receptacle that the
fastener 'screw' locks into.

WILLIS COOKE
My Aircraft Spruce catalog calls them Dzus fasteners.
They come in lots of sizes and real expensive, however
they are much larger and more expensive than a 4-40
screw.  And the installation tools are much more
expensive than a #1 Phillips, so I will take my K3 the
way it was designed and buy some more screws if I lose
any.
