K3 6 Meter PreAmp

K5DNL
Hello All,

Looking back at my log I see that I worked
many DX station without a 6 Meter Preamp.
Station work : CT1,HI3,JA7QVI,FM1HN,9Y4D,
WP4,JA7WSZ,JE1BMJ,VP2MRM and more.
All with 100W and 3 element HomeBrew Yagi
at 50 ft.
I wud say that the K3 works very nice on 6 Meters.

Re: K3 6 Meter Preamp

Dave Agsten
I found that the K3, as built, was a bit better on 6 meters than either my Pro III or TS-2000x. (A/B/C switching) I've since sold both of those radios. I bought a 6 meter preamp from High Sierra Microwave. It has about the same specs as the ARR P50VDG mentioned on here and the Elecraft offering. I use low band receiving antennas and merely switch them to the RX In via a patch panel. I'll use RX Out to the 6 meter preamp and just patch it in the same way when I'm on 6 meters. There aren't many times when I have to switch from 160 or 80 CW to 6 meters so a patch panel works just fine.
