[K3] AM Filters ??

Phil Hystad-3
I just noticed some behavior on my K3 that I never noticed before since I have not used AM mode until now.  In AM mode, I noticed several things about the filter adjustment.  By the way, I do have the 6 KHz filter installed (FL2).

First observation:  the maximum filter width that I can adjust for an AM signal with the 6 KHz filter switched in is 5 KHz.  Is this normal?  So, is this value in my filter adjustment the whole signal width (both sidebands) or just half the signal width?  Note: I do not have a wider filter.

Second observation:  with other modes, CW, SSB, as I narrow down the filter width I can see each filter being switched in on the xfil display.  But, in AM mode, this does not happen.  The only filter in use is the 6 MHz filter no matter how far I narrow down the filter width (well, down to about 1.35 KHz or so which is the smallest achievable).  I assume this is normal behavior and I assume it has something to do with AM TX requiring the 6 KHz filter.

Also, if this stuff is explained in the manual can someone point it out.  I have read, what I think are the relevant parts of the documentation but I do not see this behavior explained.

P.S.  Actually, did not TX on AM, just listening to an AM station -- had to go to dinner before I could get a turn.

It is audio.

You need to enable the other filters in AM Rx mode if you wish to use
them.  Easiest to do using K3 Utility, but can be done from the front
panel of the radio suing the CONFIG menus.
