Some of us get a little woozy thinking about creating macros on
products that offer this capability. And yet: this feature is perfect for automating multiple switch presses on your K3. If you're hesitant to try it and need a little help with the details, feel free to email me privately, or to post your question on the web, or of course you can email k3support. No question is too simple. Our goal is to make this so easy that everyone can take advantage of it. We'll keep improving the instructions and samples based on your feedback. 73, Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I've added two routines that up until now, I was engaging manually through multiple button pushes. I've slightly modified the Split+2 to also open up the Sub Rx and assign it to a fast tap on button "M1." Clearing that routine is accomplished with a press-and-hold of button M1. Secondly, I've added a macro to activate the Sub Rx, sync VFOs, then link the two VFOs. This function is assigned to button M2, and cleared by a press-and hold of M2. Here's the code used for the Split+2 function. Notice, that it adds "SB1" to Elecraft's Split+2 example.: SB1;SWT13;SWT13;FT1;UPB5;RT0;XT0; Clearing it then... SB0;FT0;RT0;XT0;LN0;SQ000; The macro for activating the Sub Rx, synchronizing frequencies, and linking VFO's: SB1;SWT13;SWT13;LN1; Clearing it... SB0;LN0; If there's already a repository of macro examples being kept on-line, I would like to hear about it. That would be a great way to share macro information any try examples created by others. Here's another one for Split+2. 99.9% of the time I'm in diversity mode but needed a quick way to get into what I call Massive Pileup mode (where you're calling in a widespread pileup). I want Main and Sub separated, Main BW 350 Hz, Sub BW 800 Hz, and mixed audio with both channels on Main (i.e. the DX) and only the right channel on Sub (i.e. the pileup). SB0;SWT13;SWT13;FT1;UPB5;RT0;XT0;SB1;BW0035;BW$0080;MN111;MP001;MN255 This assumes I'm coming from diversity mode so I exit that with SB0 (Sub Off), enter the usual split+2 commands, turn Sub back on (SB1) to set the BWs separately and set Audio Mix A AB (MN111 and MP001) and then exit (MN255). To return to diversity I do a LONG HOLD of SUB and I'm back where I was before. For small pileups I normally stay in diversity but enter the standard SPLIT mode and press REV to find the station working the DX. 73, Bill |

Hi, I would like assigned "M4" key for both macro function TAP for clears SPLIT operation and HOLD for SPLIT +2. Problem is Tap or hold "M4" always run SPLIT 2 function.. I understand that firmware fist check definition both key if it is not defined tap or hold key than will run same function. So, it would be nice if someone can explain exactly procedure how to assign both function on one key.. regards, e72x ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Select your SPLIT+2 macro, then HOLD M4. If you accidentally TAP M4, then you'll overwrite your SPLIT macro. Exit the menu and try it out. Tap M4 should run your SPLIT macro and Hold M4 should run your SPLIT+2 macro. I want to thank everyone for the helpful posts regarding macros. It motivated me to
try a few and, without too much effort - and with the "K3 Programmer's Reference" open in a window on the desktop for frequent reference - I was able to get a few programmed into my rig too! Nothing fancy, but some things that I will definitely use here ;-) I will share these examples in the hope that they will help ease the process for others who are hesitating taking the plunge. I always thought one of the neat things about the K3 was the ability to call a SSB station with CW. Unfortunately, this option is only available when you operate VOX, and I key my K3 with a sequencer triggered by a footswitch. So I thought that would be a good starting point for my first macro. I put this first macro into button PF1. It puts the VFO B into CW REV mode, and moves that VFO up 1 kHz from VFO A (so the SSB station will hear something), and puts the K3 into split operation: SWT13;SWT11;MD7;SWT11;UPB4;FT1;RT0;XT0; To undo the split operation and move VFO B back down onto the same frequency and mode, I put this macro into PF2: FT0;RT0;XT0;LN0;SQ000;SWT13; Since I operate mostly 6m, and usually call CQ on the calling frequency of 50.125 and then move off up the band to listen for callers, I put this macro into button M1. It simply sets VFO B to 50.190 so I can easily tap A/B switch after calling CQ on 50.125: SWT13;FB00050190000; MNI TNX to the Elecraft team for making such a powerful and flexible rig! And that is one reason I got it over a year ago - because it could be tailored to so many different situations. Like many K3 users, I have not delved very deeply into the (almost overwhelming) myriad of available functions. I simply set it up to work in my station for my particular applications. And if I need to learn how to make it do something more, there is always the manual and the very helpful group of folks on this email reflector.
