K3 Auto Notch

Paul-285

I was talking with an average power of 4 Watts from Georgia to a
fellow in Vermont, and a very loud tuner-upper dropped in.

I hit the K3's Auto Notch and he completely disappeared.

The notching was so complete that I turned it off to see if the
tuner-upper had actually quit tuning, or if the Auto-Notch was just
doing a great job.  He hadn't stopped tuning.

OK, how do I get the auto-notch to work?  Mine is either OFF or MANUAL.
I have been thinking it just wasn't implemented yet.  Using MANUAL, it
is truly astounding!

Autonotch is for SSB, not CW. Just push the NTCH button.

The stupider the question that I ask, the quicker the answer cometh.  I
guess I revealed that I haven't had my K3 on SSB yet, except for one QSO
on 6m in which I worked KH6.  Not only is that my best DX on 6m, it is
my ONLY DX on 6m.  In fact, in 54 years as a ham, it is my only QSO on
6.  I think I could finally get interested in "The Magic Band," thanks to K3

And it would be nice when you are in SSB and have the
Auto Notch on and want to turn it off all you had to do was
tap Auto Notch one time to turn it off.  The way it is now
you tap it and it goes to Manual.  Then tap it again to turn
it off.    Waste of a tap!
Besides, when you have it in Manual you cannot adjust it
until you hold the Auto Notch.
Seems to me it should be tap it to turn Auto Notch on, tap
it again to turn it off.
For Manual:
Hold Auto Notch to put it in Manual (and you can adjust it
with VFO knob).  Tap it to turn Manual off.
