Since installing v3.56 and continuing with v3.57, the front panel BAND
control always takes me to 5.975 MHz in AM-S when I try to QSY to 40m. I can get to 7.xxx MHz frequencies via keypad and logging programs, but not via BAND control. I just tried cycling through bands with the band control and did not
encounter that problem. I wonder if you are set on split which I found would not let me cycle through modes but again no problem changing bands. Brian,
What is the chance that you did some SWLing and tuned downward fro 40 meters to 5.975 - and subsequently either powered off or changed bands? The K3 dutifully remembers your last used frequency on "40 meters". Try doing a Direct Frequency Entry to get things back within the real 40 meter band spectrum. 73, Don W3FPR Brian Machesney wrote: > Since installing v3.56 and continuing with v3.57, the front panel BAND > control always takes me to 5.975 MHz in AM-S when I try to QSY to 40m. Go to config/BND MAP. Scroll through the bands and make sure 7.0 is IN.
Maybe somehow it got changed to OUT. Once you get this fixed, save your config via the K3 utility so you can restore. Yes it's a pain. Band buttons would be nice! That may be it. I had the same thing happen with 17 meters yesterday. I seldom use that band so I don't know when it might have gotten changed, but I know I didn't do it on purpose.

Steve,
Thanks for your suggestion - BND MAP was, indeed, the culprit. I had disabled 60m, but it somehow got re-enabled. 73 -- Brian -- K1LI On Sun, Nov 15, 2009 at 8:33 AM, Steve Ellington <[hidden email]>wrote: > Go to config/BND MAP. You probably have 40m mapped out. See "Config: Bnd Map"
A similar thing can happen when you wander out of the ham bands. The problem is that the K3 considers 40m (for example) to exend all the way down into the 49m SWBC band as far as the BAND switch is concerned. The K3 boundary between 40m and 60m is 6.000 MHz: frequencies above 6.0 are "assigned" to 40m, and those below to 60m. For general coverage users a quick way to recover from this "glitch" is to program your Mx buttons with frequencies in each ham band. Then when you wander out of a ham band you can quickly restore BAND to a proper ham frequency by pushing M->V M1 73, Drew AF2Z On Sun, 15 Nov 2009 06:39:07 -0500, Brian K1LI wrote: >Since installing v3.56 and continuing with v3.57, the front panel BAND >control always takes me to 5.975 MHz in AM-S when I try to QSY to 40m.
