VK9XM was operating just at the edge of 12 m CW last night and barely
copyable here. I had to use the APF to hear him and my dial frequency was
out of band. "No problem," I thought. I dialed in a few hundred Hz of XIT
to put my transmit frequency in band, but when I keyed I got a band edge
alert from the K3 along with intermittent RF output. Then I turned off XIT,
moved my VFO A in band and used RIT to listen down for him. Same problem. I
finally had to use split but he faded away while I sat lamenting those few
missed attempts to call him.
Of course the fault here was with VK9XM, but this is a (minor) flaw and
ought to be fixed if you get a chance.
