Hallo,
one thing I noticed was that my K3 is supposed, according to one of the stickers on one of the bags, to be band limited (TX) for the US, which shouldn't be a problem here in DL. However what would I need to do, if I were take my K3 to country where TX band limits are required, checked for and not the same as in the US? Just wondering... vy 73 de toby -- DD5FZ (ex 4n6fz, dj7mgq, dg5mgq, dd5fz) K2/10 #885 K2/100 #3248 K3/100 #67 (first power test passed) DOK C12, BCC, DL-QRP-AG _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Hi Ian,
> I guess the same as you would do with any rig Toby :-) And what might that be? AFAIK, there are countries which check your rig before operation, have very strict customs and strict limits on the TX frequencies. With the K3 it is not a question of adding/removing jumpers or the like. The K3 is predestined for expeditions to far away places. vy 73 de toby -- DD5FZ (ex 4n6fz, dj7mgq, dg5mgq, dd5fz) K2/10 #885 K2/100 #3248 K3/100 #67 (first power test passed) DOK C12, BCC, DL-QRP-AG _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. The first thing I'd do is send an e-mail to _K3Support@elecraft.com_
(mailto:[hidden email]) . My unqualiifed guess is a firmware version change or patch for that country. Which leads to the possibility that is already installed. TECH MD in the CONFIG mode allopws setting of country. I have not experimented with changing that to see what will happen. The rig SN is also stored there. There may be some things that are locked out from change at the mfg. I'm also curious myself if there are nay "hidden" programming functions, otherwise known as unpublished. Yaesu and other rigs usually have a lot that are reserved for the shop techs. Most software manufacturers love to put these in their products.
