[K3]Battery for K3?

Chris Rolinson G7DDN
Hi all

First time poster here - had a K3 for a few months now and really enjoying it as the home station! Also finding this reflector of interest too!

I have been wondering about saving the pennies for a K3-10 as well to use out portable this coming summer and wondered....
...has anyone managed to incorporate a long life battery into the area of the K3-10 where the 100w PA goes?

Seems to be a waste of good space when one one wants alternative power.  It would be great also to have an option of a Gel-Cell type of power source that was built in for portable use (like the K2). Any thoughts?

Regards es 73

Have you considered a K2, Chris?

It's a very capable rig, designed to take an internal battery.  It's
probably less power-hungry than a K3, but I've not checked the figures.

Its one weakness, for me, has been transmit audio on SSB, although I
must admit I've not spent much time trying to optimise it as I use it
mainly for CW.  The K3 wins hands-down in this respect.
