Builders,
Thanks to all who responded with exactly the information I needed. Even more so, thanks for the grace of all involved, providing the information, pointing me to the exact references in the manual, and doing so without labeling me a knucklehead which would not have been inaccurate. I will download the construction manual as a resource going forward. As you can tell, this is the first time I've cracked the covers open. This is an amazing piece of gear, and it has attracted an amazing group of users. I can now proceed with the mods. 73, Mark www.k4so.com www.picasaweb.com/kfourso kfourso.googlepages.com ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
My radio has had this same issue... I found that the screw in question
is a common issue on my rig too. I found that for a while I just put that screw in lighter and it would come out easier. The issue for me is that the screw connecting the stand off to the mainboard loosens and then the whole thing is allowed to spin. My solution was to put the screw in for the mainboard to the standoff and then put a dab of green locktite onto it through the standoff. I used a long applicator to get it onto the tip of the screw. I then let it dry really well before I put the bottom cover back on. I've never had an issue since and I get into the gem for every mod that pops up... ;) ~BTH On Sun, 2009-11-01 at 19:24 -0500, Mark C.
