K3 CAT and SPE Expert 1K-FA

Kjeld Holm
Dear All,

I am confused after having tried almost anything to get my PC to control
both K3 and the Expert. I can controle K3 from HRD via COM1 with no
problems.

My latest try to control the Expert was to have the factory make a cable to
me with DB-9 female from the computer and a DB-9 male going to the K3 and a
DB-15 male going to the Expert. So the cables should be all right from the
factory.

My Expert is set to CAT = Kenwood and BAUD RATE 9600.

My COM1 is set to Bits per second = 9600, Data bits = 8, Parity = None, Stop
bits = 1 and Flow control = None.
For flow control I have tried also Hardware and Xon/Xoff

Result: K3 is following HRD fine. The Expert is doing nothing.

What am I doing wrong? (Now that the cable must be OK as it is made by the
Italian factory).

Kel -

I'd take the K3 out of the equation, and see if the Expert works correctly alone. And
I wouldn't bet my life the cable is wired correctly. The DB 15 connector sounds a bit
odd. Do you have a wiring diagram for the connection?

Hello my friend.

I have the same setup.
