K3 :: Data A mode TX EQ function

Steve Jackson-5
Thanks to the several responders to my posting.  According to Don Wilhelm, even in Data A mode, the TX EQ stays in line for any SSB mode.  Yikes.  My TX EQ settings are idealized for my voice via my microphone, and for SSB, not data.

I just assumed that since this 'Data A' mode drops out the compressor if that is set, and enables USB, and some other things ... all automatically, it would similarly set the TX EQ levels to 'flat.'

The fact that it doesn't must mean that it is harder to 'code' this function than it would appear, since from where I sit, having a flat TX passband in Data A mode is a must-have.

I would like to see a feature (somewhere) that is a "set EQ settings to flat" function anyway, and if that function existed, simply calling the function when invoking Data A mode, for example, would get you what is desired with little fuss.

You could use the following macro till this gets sorted in the firmware:

AI0;K31;MN009;SWT53;MN255;K30;

A similar macro could replace your TX SSB equaliser settings at the touch of a button. There are more details on a previous posting for RX Equaliser on this forum.

For convenience, I have generated a number of macros under the HRD
CAT command facility. I assigned them to buttons on the HRD front
panel. I have macros for TX EQ & RX EQ for CW & SSB.
For easy identification, part of the macro displays the name on
the K3 LCD bottom line.

E.g.

TX SSB1

AI0;K31;MN009;SWT53;SWT27;UP;UP;SWT29;UP;SWT33;UP;MN255;K30;
DBT;DBX;DB ;DBS;DBS;DBB;DB1;
