Hi,
I have installed the latest firmware and notice the following: At present I don't have PTT derived from the RS232 input and use VOX to trigger the TX. I notice that if for example the power is set to 40W, when the VOX triggers there is a brief pulse of full power shown on the RF meter there after it falls to the requested power. This is confirmed by a similar pulse and recovery in the output of the linear. I'm using JT65A, the line in level is set to LINE 5, no ALC. The level from my sound card is at first bar from off on the Windows volume control. The same happens even with some ALC bars activated. I would be interested in what LINE "X" others are using. Maybe I have to attenuate the level from the sound card and us a higher LINE "X" setting. Can this be replicated? This was not apparent until I installed the latest firmware. Hi Mike,
I've not seen exactly what you are reporting, but I have seen similar behavior in the present and the previous firmware versions. These I reported to Elecraft. I suggest you send a detailed description to <[hidden email]>. In my case, the misbehavior which was the most similar to yours, were power spikes when barely moving the PWR knob in SSB and using the transverter 0dBm output for a 144MHz transverter. Every little bit of information can help in the debugging process. vy 73 de toby -- DD5FZ (ex 4n6fz, dj7mgq, dg5mgq, dd5fz) K2/10 #885 K2/100 #3248 K3/100 #67 DOK C12, BCC, DL-QRP-AG, JN58td _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Data spikes will happen if you do not set up correctly for data mode.
Please see the Operating Tips page on the Elecraft website. If you over drive with either the soundcard or the Line In control using MIC gain, you will get spikes. But if you follow the setup tip you should not see any. 73 Greg AB7R -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]]On Behalf Of Toby Deinhardt Sent: Sunday, March 09, 2008 4:37 PM To: Mike Harris Cc: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 Data Overshoot Hi Mike, I've not seen exactly what you are reporting, but I have seen similar behavior in the present and the previous firmware versions.
